About Darin

Raised in rural northeast South Dakota, Darin grew up helping on job sites with his father — an electrician, handyman, and volunteer firefighter who also served as the town’s acting fire chief. His mother worked as a bookkeeper and city clerk, keeping the town’s operations honest and on track. From a young age, Darin learned the value of hard work, accountability, and serving others — not for recognition, but because it’s the right thing to do.

After earning degrees in Microbiology and Biology from South Dakota State University, Darin spent more than 30 years in science-based manufacturing, starting on the ground floor in quality control and eventually leading an animal health vaccine manufacturing plant for 12 years. He didn’t get there by talking — but by solving problems, leading teams, and getting things done.

Darin moved to Nebraska 27 years ago, where he built his career, raised his family, and put down deep roots in the community.  Together he and his wife have a blended family of six children — including four of his own and two stepchildren — along with a son-in-law and three wonderful granddaughters. All four of Darin’s children attended and graduated from Gretna High School, where they were active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venture Crew, Youth Sports, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Show Choir. Both of Darin’s sons proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 363.

Darin continues to give back through Habitat for Humanity, local food drives, and Eagle Scout service projects — the same kind of hands-on efforts that build strong, thriving communities and strengthen the bonds that keep Nebraska families connected.
